On the occasion of the XXVII Compasso d’Oro, the most prestigious Italian prize for industrial design, ADI Associazione Disegno Industriale offered a highly symbolic gift to its jury members: a limited edition of the well- known Tratto Pen pen by F.I.L.A. – Fabbrica Italiana Lapis ed Affini.
Designed in 1975, by Design Group Italia, Tratto Pen has been awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1979.
Tratto Pen is a cristalline and immediate example of Italian Design core values such as innovation, functionality, practicality and inventiveness. When an object is meticolously and perfectly designed, it does not need to change and Tratto Pen has remained unchanged for over 40 years, becoming part of the daily life of thousands and thousands of people around the world.
Hence the special edition curated today by Design Group Italia and made possible by FILA (which provided patents and original designs). For this precious limited series of 12 pieces Design Group Italia decided to replace plastic, the usual material Tratto Pen is made of, with a bright polished aluminium, accurately crafted and engraved by the prototyping atelier La Modelleria. A celebration of the best design culture and its ingenuity.
