Vehicle Service Group VSG, a cutting-edge company, leader in the production of tire service equipment, tasked us to design the new tire changer KENDO.EVO by Rotary, a VSG brand.
VSG aimed to provide operators with a solution that embodies ease of use, safety, and a high level of adaptability, while being capable of handling different production volumes, workflows, and the unique characteristics of a wide range of garage spaces.
We were challenged to come up with innovative ideas, rooted in a deep understanding of user needs and to strike the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality across various work environments and for diverse operator habits.
To design a solution that genuinely addresses challenges and obstacles in the tire-changing workflow, making the process intuitive and simple, it was necessary to understand the real needs and pain points of the operators.
A thorough research and understanding phase established the guidelines for the entire design development.
By interviewing tire dealers, our design team introduced a significant innovation to the sector, placing importance on the needs and habitual practices of operators while considering the dynamic nature of the ever-evolving automotive market.
A WORK COMPANION
KENDO.EVO has been designed to serve tire dealers, accommodating their diverse and individual working styles.
It offers new levels of versatility and organization. These complementary needs have been integrated into a rational, monolithic, and adaptable machine, equipped with all the necessary components for tire change operations.
Customization and modularity were the primary design drivers, resulting in a solution featuring an innovative tools and accessories management system. This system can be tailored to fit each operator’s work style, the workflow to be managed, and the varying characteristics of each garage, including size, timing, and operational organization.
The vertical subdivision of the main areas of the product is a key design element.
On the right, a strong, iconic, darker area is dedicated to user operations, with accessories organized according to the users’ needs. On the left, the color accent reflects the brand’s identity, while the black panel on the main frame features a dynamic sign containing the model code name. This element enhances the verticality of the product and balances the two main color areas. Additionally, the pedals area is protected by a rounded frame, contributing to the verticality of the product’s overall image.
