D-Heart – the first ECG device for smartphones ideated by the eponymous Italian start up now the medtech company Strena Medical and designed by our team – has been honored with the prestigious “Premio dei Premi. National Innovation Award” promoted by COTEC – Fondazione per l’Innovazione.

Already awarded the Red Dot 2018, included in the ADI Design Index and winner of the Compasso d’Oro prize in 2020 D-Heart is a successful example of how a multidisciplinary design approach can brilliantly solve delicate challenges offering up to date and affordable answers.

To ensure its affordability, reliability, and user appeal, our Service Design, Product Design, Engineering, and Digital Design teams collaborated with D-Heart adopting and integrating multifaceted point of views and a comprehensive methodology.
Today, being recognized as a visionary yet practical project by the ADI Associazione per il Disegno Industriale and, upon ADI’s indication, being deemed suitable for the Premio dei Premi established in 2008 by the Italian Government Presidency of the Council of Ministers, reinforces the idea that good design can enhance the quality of life for an ever-increasing number of people worldwide.

Serving as a reliable ally both for final users (patients) and caregivers operating in emergency situations, including the Italian alpine rescue teams and various NGOs worldwide, D Heart has already sold more than 24.000 units. Distributed in 24 countries with its app available in 10 languages, D Heart offers to the over 90 million people suffering from cardiovascular diseases in the world and to the estimated additional 570 million currently going undiagnosed mostly due to the lack of proper healthcare the possibility to register a hospital ECG in total autonomy and send the results to the 24/7 tele-cardiology service or to their trusted doctor even where the access to medical care isn’t easy.
